all semester, my major assesment has been grinding along.

A Homage to the work of miss Lara Jade, if you dont know already know of her... look her up- she is genius.  Ok genius might be a bit of a far call.. considering i dont know her personally, but she sure makes some stunning photo's and has quite the eye for interestingness.

Unfortunately i wasnt able to use a whole lot of PS within the context of my assesment as it was mostly based around the in studio/camera work.. therefore assesing my abilities pre-processing.

The whole series centres on the ideas and styles of farytales with a morbid twist.. as Lara often portrays single female models within a moment of a semingly bigger story, like something just did or will happen. There are no happy smiley faces, only OTT styling and mua work in order to exhadgerate the theme.  Whilst I dont believe she sets a character for each of her shoots, fairytales, tim burton, brothers grimm and Annie Lebovwitz are all noted as her inspiriations.. in order to create 6 differently themed images I honed them down to individual stories in order to explore each character and mood more thouroughly.

It was hard to find ways of adding texture and character without dropping in a background or adding some really heavy contrast and amping up my blacks.. but.. i think in the end it was worth it.  I had a blast with all the lovely models and MUA's as well as designing all the sets/lighting gels i also created my own costuming for each character.

Now lets just cross fingers i pass.  xx
